What to Expect

At Regions Behavioral Health, our inpatient and outpatient programs offer life-resetting individual and group therapies, medication management, mental health education and supervision of many medical issues. Patients are supervised by our board-eligible psychiatrists and closely monitored by a medical physician to ensure overall health and well-being.

Inpatient Services

Patients of Regions Behavioral Hospital receive individualized care to manage their mental health issues through a combination of therapy approaches, wellness education, activities and medication.

Outpatient Services

Our experienced staff at Regions is committed to giving each patient their best chance to restart their lives. We provide comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments, diagnostic and treatment services. Compassion and empathy are key to preserving our patients’ dignity through the stabilization and treatment of acute mental and/or behavioral illnesses in a safe environment.

On a patient’s continuing journey toward regaining and maintaining their highest level of functioning, Regions assists in helping patients and their families identify and obtain the necessary social and medical help they need.

Our History

With a background in caring for the eldery and infirmed, the founders of Regions sought a compassionate and caring outpatient program for relatives struggling with behavioral and mental disorders. When a suitable facility and program could not be found, they formed an outstanding outpatient program and facility for those seeking more from a behavioral health clinic.

Regions Advanced Behavioral Health is premier provider of Inpatient Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

A behavioral health crisis occurs when a person’s actions, feelings and/or behaviors put that person (called the “proposed patient”) at risk of hurting himself/herself or others, or prevents the proposed patient from being able to care for himself/herself or function safely in the community. Some examples of this may include:

  • Using language, writing or otherwise insinuating that the proposed patient plans to harm someone else – this could include physical violence;
  • Using language, writing or otherwise insinuating that the proposed patient plans to harm himself/herself – this could include excessive talk of death or suicide;
  • Demonstrating an inability to complete activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, brushing teeth, etc.;
  • Withdrawing from the proposed patient’s regular social situations/patterns;
  • Exhibiting dramatic changes in mood, affect or sleeping and eating patterns; and
  • Participating in high-risk activity including reckless behavior and impulsivity.

A common worry among many patients and their families is how to finance treatment.

Though every insurance company is different, at Regions, we’re committed to finding our patients the most affordable and quality care available.

Even if insurance or financial situations restrict treatment at Regions, we help patients navigate the financial process to get the care they need.

Though schedules can vary, a typical day in treatment consists of group and individual therapy sessions with time allotted for meals, snacks and alternating outside time for smokers and non-smokers. The daily schedule is designed to give each patient the flexibility and resources to pursue healing at their own pace.

Your confidentiality and privacy are of the utmost importance to us.

There are several daily times for outdoor smoke breaks. Non smokers are also allotted outdoor smoke breaks separate from the smokers.
